How to prepare Moroccan candy of dates

Date candy is one of the most expensive areas in which dates can be used because sweets are naturally rich in sugar, and dates are also rich in sugar. Many pectic or gelatinous sweets can be produced using a suitable derivative of dates. For example, molasses may be suitable for the production of some sweets, such as jelly and some cakes, and it is suitable for date bars. Sugar extracted from dates (after removing the fiber and color) may be used in the production of toffee or nougat.
In addition to that date candy is usually present in Moroccan weddings and celebrations.

Ingredients:

• 125g butter
• Half a cup of oil
• Little of salt
• 3 spoons of sugar powder
• 3 big spoons of orange flower water
• A head of small spoon of baking powder
• The quantity of flour depends on the type of flour that we use

The method of preparing:

In the pot we put butter, and sugar and mix them very well until it become creme, then we add oil, salt, orange flower water, and baking powder, finally we add the flour gradually until we gather paste.
For the tamping we need:

  • 300g paste of date
  • A small spoonful of cinnamon
  • We 2 big spoons of orange flower water we mix all together, and we shaped small balls of about 11g each.

We back to the paste and take one small ball and fill it with one ball of the tamping we had prepared before and then we can do any shape we want of it, after making the shape you prefer, we use the same method for every paste.

After finishing these types, we bake them in the oven, then we put them in the sugar powder, to make have a special look and become more delicious.
