Moroccan tea is a hot drink, that consists of three principal ingredients which are sugar, boiled water, and tea grains, and the third ingredient is optional, it can be Mint, thyme, verbena, Shiba, or any other herb you prefer.
It is widely spread in the countries of the Maghreb, especially Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Mauritania, under the name “Atay”. It is always present at the Maghreb dining tables and in the collections of poets and writers.
Moroccan tea is consumed all day, it is an important component in the breakfast, it is served with bread, and after the prayer of al3sr it is served with bread or Melwi, cake ….etc

How to prepare Moroccan tea easily at home:
first, we need :
- green grain tea or green tea
- boiled water
- sugar
- mint or other mentioned herbs above
The method:
We put 3 small spoons of green tea in the teapot fill the pot with boiled water and put it on medium fire until boiled very well, then add to it mint and sugar.
